Good News!!!!
We now have a new nominated charity the 'Calvert Trust' Darryn, myself and Cath from Lakes Lodge and Katy from Lake House all had a trip out to Little Crosthwaite at Bassenthwaite lake last week where the 'Calvert Trust' is based.
The 'Calvert Trust' was founded in 1974 and they were the first outdoor education centre to cater specifically for people with disabilities, today they remain one of the few that are capable of dealing with the most severe and profound of disabilites. With the help of their highly-trained instructional staff and the ground-breaking equipment adaptations, they have helped more than 65,000 people with disabilities discover that challenging themselves through activities such as mountaineering, sailing, canoeing/kayaking, horseriding, abseiling, archer, ghyll scrambling, hand cycling and even paragliding, helps them to achieve success, realise their full potential, and go back to their daily lives filled with motivation, confidence, self esteem, and the knowledge that they can integrate fully into contemporary society.
We had a great afternoon we met Ruth and her team and they showed us round the complex which is really impressive, they are also in the process of building a new hydrotherapy swimming pool and generally extending the site. They are currently trying to raise funds for a 'Snoezelen Room' (sensory room) this creates an aritificial multisensory theraputic environment that is designed to enhance sensory developement and communication through safe tactile, visual, sound and smell stimuli.
We have said that we would concentrate on raising money to help towards the Sensory room because we felt that it would be rewarding seeing what our donation had gone towards. Darryn has been busy collecting from our local suppliers to put a hamper together which we are going to raffle and we are also going to raffle two midweek breaks one for Lakes Lodge and one for Lake House and finally all the staff are going to do a sponsered walk during January. If anybody would like raffle tickets or to sponser anyone details will be available at all three receptions or alternatively you can always give us a call
Wish us luck

and all the team from The Regent.
