Its great to get away

By Andrew Hewitt, 30 April 2010 – 1 comment

Just got back from a short break and feeling really refreshed and ready for the start of the Summer season.  Julie and I were supposed to go to Lisbon for a short City break to celebrate Julie's birthday but due to the 'Ash' we had to divert to the North Yorkshire Coast.  We started out in Scarborough on the Sunday going to Oliver Mount to watch the bikes which I thought was great as I hadn't been for a few years and really enjoyed the special atmosphere that Olivers Mount has.

From Scarborough we headed north to Whitby.  It was Julies first visit to North Yorkshire so I was giving her the tourist trail through Robin Hoods Bay etc, what a wonderful part of the country.  We stayed in Whitby for a couple of nights enjoying some great weather.  We did some coastal walks and ate the best fish and chips we have ever had.  On both evenings we ate at the Famous Magpie Cafe. As a fish lover I was in heaven! Whitby is such a lovely fishing town with loads of character never once did we think what we might be missing in Lisbon.

Back at work it has quietened down a little, probably due to the Election, for I cannot think why people would want to stay at home because of it! Hopefully after next week things might begin to pick up.

Hope to see you soon

    Hello Andrew,

Its good to see you back hard at work after your forced change of holiday plan. We have been to North Yorkshire many times. Only two more weeks to go before we are back at the Regent. Norma and I feel Ambleside is almost our second home. We look foward to your hospitality, the good food and wine and of course the wonderful days out on the fells.
