Darryn's Blog
By Andrew Hewitt, 22 September 2010 –
Hi my name is Darryn. I have been working for the Hewitt family since June 2007. My partner Candice and myself started off running the Regent's sister hotel Lake House. We ran Lake House for just over 1 year and thouroughly enjoyed it. The Hewitt family then very kindly sponsored us so that we could return from South africa to the United Kingdom to work for them.
I have been working at the Regent since our return in December 2008. I have done various roles at the Regent and am currently the duty manager where you will see me running the restaurant in the evenings alongside Andrew and Jason.
Be sure to have a look at our dinner menus displayed on a daily basis on our website. We now have a Table D'Hote menu aswell as an A'La Carte menu, so you now have more dishes to choose from. We pride ourselves by sourcing the freshest and best local ingredients, and with our fine food goes fine wine, which we can thank Stainton Wines for being a great supplier. It would definately be worth a visit to Stainton Wines if you are in Kendal.
Candice and myself recently returned home to South Africa to get married and are very excited to be expecting our first child in December. We have settled in Kendal and feel grateful to have been given the opportunity to make Cumbria our home.
I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate the Hewitt family on their 30th year at the Regent this year, what an amazing milestone. We all wish you many more successful years ahead, may you continue to grow from strength to strength.
Another Hewitt arrival, a massive congratulations to Jason and Tarryn Hewitt on the birth of your beautiful baby girl, Isla May Hewitt, born on the 14th September 2010, may health and happiness be with you always.
We all look forward to welcoming back our regular guests as well as meeting some new faces of course. We have a great team here at the Regent and we all work well together to ensure you have a pleasant and memorable stay, as well as having a great relationship with our fellow colleagues at Lake House and Lakes Lodge. Our team spirit seems to get better and better as the years go by.
Hope to see you soon,
Darryn Van der Merwe
