Hi I’m Karen and I have worked for the Hewitt family at The Regent Hotel for three years now. Initially joining Helen and Rhona on reception, they have since left to have families and now work with us part time.
I have lived locally since I was about twelve moving up from Oxfordshire with my parents we moved to Grasmere where my father had the headship of the local school. I still live in Grasmere with my husband Billy and we have a beautiful little National Trust cottage at the foot of Helm Crag, (Julia Bradbury country!) I have two grown up children, one still at home.
My role at the Regent Hotel is head of Reception, I oversee the daily running of reception making sure everything runs smoothly, some of our daily duties include taking bookings for the Regent, Lakes Lodge and Lake House. We are like central reservations at the Regent as we take bookings for all three places so over all we have 65 rooms to let every day!! We are monitoring the rates and occupancy levels on a daily basis along with Andrew and Jason, and we all take part in maintaining the web sites.
We pride ourselves on a good friendly working atmosphere with great teams in all departments not forgetting the House and the Lodge, we have to work very closely together with all departments, housekeeping, kitchen and maintenance as it is a massive team effort to supply good customer service and keeping our product the best.
