Ambleside Christmas Light Festival
Ambleside Christmas Light Festival with a lantern parade and firework display is the biggest and best day of the local calendar.
The Hewitt family are proud to be instrumental in the organisation of this yearly celebration of the magic of Christmas and the Regent Hotel offers a huge choice of accommodation for anyone wanting to stay to make the most of the event.
From 12 noon the village is alive with festive market stalls, street entertainers, tricks and magic. For the Christmas shopping crowd there's a hog roast and mulled wine stall really add to the festive atmosphere.
At 2pm the Christmas Steamer leaves Waterhead Pier to go and pick up Father Christmas who is enjoying the scenery around Bowness-on-Windermere! The children on the cruise down to collect our guest of honour are entertained and once Father Christmas is on board he gives them all gifts and a Christmas wish.
By 3pm the Steamer party is back at Waterhead Bay and Father Christmas gets into his sleigh ready to head into Ambleside to light up the village with his magic dust. Behind him is the Lantern Procession of 300 lanterns weaving through the narrow streets.
As a grand finale there is a fantastic firework display in Rothay Park rounding off a magical, memorable day.
