Our clients say…

  • A comfortable and convenient hotel

Rooms well furnished and of goods size. Those on the front are rather noisy during the day because of traffic. Convenient for the steamers. Restaurant is very good but if you stay a week the menu remains largely the same. Staff excellent and helpful

  • Long Weekend

We stayed the 1st and 2nd of June to make the most of a child free weekend. Had a lovely time! Food great and very reasonable especially when you compare the prices with the other eating places Ambleside! Room fab, number 38 with a lake view! Staff excellent! Short walk into Ambleside centre and great location to hit the fells via Coniston road! Will definitely be using the hotel again

  • Everything is possible

Just returned from a 3 day break in the superior room at back of hotel with own outside and interior sitting area beds very comfy and bathroom with bath/shower furnished to a very good standard The hotel itself located in ideal position to visit Ambleside and trips to the lake by various means The main hotel is very welcoming and comfortable and furnished to a very good standard All members of staff a great asset and dare I say the greatest strength of the hotel The breakfast choice and quality and cooked just so to one's own liking makes this one of the best

  • I think we are classed as regulars now

We wouldn't and haven't stayed anywhere else in the Lake District! Juat checked out after another fabulous stay! I started coming here 4 years ago with my partner and his family and love it! The food in the restaurant is so delicious! The rooms are clean, cosy and well decorated! We are, by quite a bit, the youngest couple there sometimes (32/33) but love the relaxing atmosphere and it never bothers us! If you want a relaxing break away you need to go!! Close to lots of walks! Always great staff who are polite and attentive! You always deserve the full 5 stars from us!

  • Amazing stay and the most wonderful service

We stayed here over bank holiday weekend and had a wonderful time. The superior rooms are beautiful and the views and distance to the lake are wonderful. Food and drinks are fantastic, but the service we received topped it off. Every single member of staff was incredible and nothing was too much trouble. Reception staff were so helpful (helped me with my booking when I was super stressed out) and breakfast staff were incredible. We cannot recommend this hotel enough

  • Short break in Ambleside

We visit the Lake District every year and have always enjoyed our hotel stays. Everything at the Regent Hotel exceeded expectations. All the staff were very pleasant and very approachable. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The food was excellent especially the breakfast. Will certainly consider staying again

  • Smashing 2 night break

Just returned back from an excellent 2 nights stay at this hotel. Our accommodation was in the Sail Loft which had its own terrace overlooking the lake, comfortable and spacious room . First class service throughout from the friendly and professional staff. We didn't use the restaurant and night ,just had breakfast. The breakfast was very good with a wide varied menu, porridge with raises soaked in whiskey mmmmmmmm The weather was kind so we sat out on our private terrace each evening. Will definately return ,thankyou

  • Mid Week Break

Excellent hotel.Superb location within a 5 minute walk of the lakeside with access to the cruise boats on Windermere.Very welcoming. The bedroom was very comfortable with views of the lake.,the En-suite bathroom was modern and spaciousThe staff were all very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good with a wide choice and the cooked breakfast was hot.The packed lunch was excellent value for the money. The bar has a good choice of wine and beers

  • How is this only 3 stars

Just returned from a three night stay, having booked following the excellent Trip Advisor reviews; they were right! We are bemused that this little gem is rated as 3 stars; mostly, we stay at 4 star hotels and this is definitely easily up with that rating. At risk of simply reiterating other reviews, there is very little, if anything, to criticise; all staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful, from booking in, throughout our stay, to booking out and being offered a look at alternative rooms for another future stay. The few requests we did make were fulfilled speedily, efficiently and with great courtesy. Mealtimes, especially breakfast, were busy but this was not reflected in the efforts of the very hardworking staff ; thank you Frederica and Julie! We had dinner on each night and again, all was very well presented, prepared and of a good portion size

  • Another return to the Regent

I was amazed to see that my last review of this superb hotel was written three years ago . I am sure that we have visited since but perhaps omitted to review . This hotel has remained consistently very, very good over the years . It is a family run hotel in a lovely location and there are no “ negatives “ . The staff are friendly and helpful , the rooms are decorated and maintained to a high standard and the food is excellent . It is good to see that the Hewitt family are still very much “ hands on “ . Well done Andrew and team . Thank you ! You have a winning formula and long may your success continue

  • Relaxing and Enjoyable

Booked 5 rooms for mum's 80th birthday and the staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble for them, they made mum feel very special. Breakfast was delicious - very relaxed and available till midday! Fantastic choice of food, including Manx kippers, the scrambled eggs were perfect and the porridge rich annd creamy. Good free car parking on site. A 2 minute walk to the ferries and a 5 minute shuttle bus ride from the Town Centre. Outside patio bar was picturesque but the parasol umbrellas restricted the spectacular views and made it quite chilly out of the sun - they should either switch the heaters on or take them down unless it is raining. The staff were what made the holiday though. Nothing was too much trouble for them, they iced a cake, they were chatty and knowledgeable about the local attractions and genuinely interested in making our stay memorable

  • Exceptional

From arrival to departure nothing was too much trouble. Immaculate hotel, delicious food and great location. We stayed for two nights for my Mum’s 80th birthday and the hotel was faultless. The staff were attentive, very friendly and delightful. Breakfast was freshly cooked and fantastic with a wide variety of options. Dinner should you choose to make a reservation is equally delicious and enjoyable
