The daffodils are in full bloom, lambs are skipping around the fields and the sun is starting to shine a little brighter - that’s right, spring has officially sprung in the Lakes.
While of course, the Lake District is beautiful in all seasons, in spring it really starts to come into its own following the fresh winter.
Here are our top three picks of spring activities that are right on our doorstep, here at The Regent Hotel.
Explore Brockhole’s Mawson Gardens
You can sign up for a guided tour around Brockhole’s Mawson Gardens on 29 March and get an insight into Brockhole’s history, plants and seasonal highlights, followed by afternoon tea in the café - all for just £9.95 including afternoon tea! (Booking advised).
Minibeast Magic with Silverband
The perfect event to keep your little ones entertained on 11 April at Brockhole on Windermere. Find out how Milly the Mombassa train millipede defends herself, see the scorpions that change colour and meet the bearded dragon who eats his lunch in front of children! Sessions at 11am, 12 noon, 1.30pm and 2.30pm. Prices are £5 child, £2 adult, book here.
Walk in the footsteps of Wordsworth
On 13 May, you can sign up for a joint World Heritage themed walk in partnership with Dove Cottage and the Wordsworth Museum. You’ll take the steamer from Glenridding to the legendary Aira Force waterfalls and return along the lake shore - discovering why this spectacular landscape deserves to become a World Heritage Site in 2017. Find out more about this event here.
Of course, one of the best parts of spring is to simply enjoy the milder temperatures and the lighter evenings. Taking a stroll around the Lake District and enjoying the blossoming flowers and the lovely wildlife is special enough in itself. You’ll also be spoilt for choice when it comes to finding somewhere to eat and drink, as we have a number of superb restaurants and cafés right on our doorstep - including our very own popular restaurant.
